Help > Content Management System > Pages
To create a new page:
- Click the “CMS” tab
- The “Pages” sub item is pre-selected by default
- Click “Create New” in the upper right of the Pages view
- Enter titles, headers (what will appear in your browser’s navigation bar), navigation path, and body content
- Click “Create”
Entering page content is fast and easy with the content entry tools provided in the CMS. You can add text, images, animation, and links, and can edit the content at any time. Changing fonts, editing images and links, and more is simple – and the tools are designed to be as easy to learn and use as possible.
Tip: if you are entering content from another document (copying and pasting) be sure to copy and paste your content into Notepad, then select the content you want to enter from Notepad and paste from there. This clears any HTML from the original document and ensures that the tools in the CMS work properly.
To add text to a page:
- Follow the above steps to create a new page
- Put your cursor in the white body content block, below the list of tools
- Type or paste your text as desired
- Select any or all text and choose a font and style from the toolbar above
To see the title of any tool, simply mouse over the tool to see its’ function. Most are commonly used document editing tools, which perform the same functions as their counterparts in Microsoft Word. The exception is the Source tool. This tool switches the input type between plain text and HTML – if you know how to work with HTML, you can use this tool to allow editing just as you would accomplish it in any other HTML editor.
Tip: Click the Preview tool, located in the upper left corner of the CMS toolbar, to see how your finished page will appear on your site. You can do this at any point in the editing process.
To add an image to a page:
- Follow the above steps to create a new page
- Put your cursor in the white body content block, below the list of tools
- Paste your image here, or use the Insert/Edit Image tool, located on the bottom left corner of the CMS toolbar
- With the image selected, resize or reposition it using the Insert/Edit Image tool
- If you need to add an image from the Web, type the URL into the URL bar in the Image tool
- If you need to add an image from your hard drive, select the Upload tab in the Image tool. Select Browse and find the image, then click “Send it to the Server”. You can now click “Browse Server” next to the URL bar in the Image tool to find your image at any time
- Click “OK” once you have chosen an image, and it will appear on your page
To edit an image on a page:
- Click Edit to the right of the page title in the Pages view
- Select the image by clicking on it or highlighting it
- Click the Insert/Edit Image tool, located on the bottom left corner of the CMS toolbar
- Change the width, height, or position of the image using the fields on the lower left of the Image tool; a small preview is shown on the lower right of the tool
- When you are satisfied with the position and size of your image, click OK to finalize the edit
- Click “Update” on the lower left of the open editing view for the page to submit your edits
Tip: Once you have added an image, you can edit it directly from the body content without using the image tool. Click on the image to select it, then right click the image and choose “image properties” from the dropdown menu. Make your changes as desired, and then click “ok”. You can also delete images by clicking on the image to select it, then hitting your backspace or delete key
To add a table to a page:
- In the CMS toolbar, click Insert/Edit Table (third tool from the left on the lower row)
- Define your table’s parameters such as row and column height, overall dimensions, row height, cell spacing and padding, alignment, etc.
- Enter 0 for either border or cushion if you do not want one
- Click “Enter” and your table will appear in the body of your page
- Enter content to cells by typing it or pasting it directly to the cells
- You can edit the content of a cell at any time in the Editing view by right-clicking the cell and choosing from the list of options provided – just as in Microsoft Excel
Cell properties in the table can be similarly edited; just right-click the cell you want to work with to begin. Select “cell properties” from the dropdown menu, and then modify the cell. You can edit alignment, background/border colors, word wrap, width and height, and row/column span.
To make an image or text an active link:
- Select the image or text by highlighting it or clicking it in the Editing view
- Click the Link tool, which appears as a globe with two links of chain in front of it, second from the right in the middle row of tools
- To make the link direct to a URL, Paste the URL you want the text or image to link to in the URL bar and then click “OK”
- To link to a document, click the Upload tab in the Link tool and browse your hard drive for the document
- Click “Send it to the Server” to store your document on the server
- Click the “Link Info” tab in the Link tool and then click “Browse Server” to find your document
- Click “OK” and your link will open the selected document
Tip: If the link you want to create is to a page on your site, choose “other” from the protocol dropdown and then type in the path to the desired page and click “ok”. This works for both text and image links.
To view past versions of any page:
- Click “Page Content History” next to any page in the Pages view
- Scroll through any versions of this page that have been saved previously
- To revert to an older version of the page content, simply click “Rollback to This Version” under each version of the page in the scroll
Tip: to view quick snapshot of any page, simply click the “Show” link on the far right of each page’s row on the list.
