Featured Site Launch! Windwalker Real Estate

Congrats to Windwalker on their New Custom Sequoia Site

Custom Search Map

Windwalker Real Estate has been a Boston Logic client for several years. Their premier Nantucket real estate market research sets them apart from their competition as they dominate the local market. Seeking to differentiate their sales and rentals brands, as well as to increase their search engine rankings, Windwalker recently split their website into two distinct entities - Windwalkerrealestate.com, freshly built on the Sequoia platform, and Windwalkerrentals.com, their prior third party website devoted to seasonal rentals on the island of Nantucket.

Windwalker RE wanted to put increased focus on their sales brand, and as such engaged Boston Logic not only for a strong SEO and Social Media campaign for the new site (in addition to the campaign we manage for their rentals website), but also a full custom design for their new sales website.

This design also included a clickable graphic search map tool which interfaces with Windwalker's Town Pages component - these two tools in concert provide a fun and intuitive user interface which handsomely compliments the look and feel of this sophisticated design theme.

The Numbers Are In: Sequoia Users Make More Money!

You Can't Argue with Numbers.

The Findings...

Boston Logic looked at all Sequoia users in one MLS and compared them to other real estate agents in the same MLS. The numbers told a clear story. On the buy side, Sequoia users average 33% more trans-action value than the average buyer’s agent. On the sell side, Sequoia agents sell 46% more real estate!

Our Method...

Using MLS PIN data in Massachusetts, we first looked at agents who have actively worked helping buyers in the past 12 months, closing at least 1 buy-side transaction in that period. We then compared this group of agents to the agents who use Boston Logic’s Sequoia platform. The average buyer’s agent total transaction value (summed prices of all homes sold) for a Sequoia user was 33.1% higher than the average agent.

A similar process was followed for real estate agents working with sellers. Analyzing over 54,000 transactions in the past 12 months in Massachusetts, the average total transaction value for Sequoia agents working with sellers was 46.3% higher than the average agent who had done at least 1 seller-side transaction. Boston Logic has more clients who work with MLSPIN than any other MLS. Thus, their data made for the largest sample set available.

A New Weapon in Your SEO/SMO Arsenal: Google+

Google+ (Pronounced "Google Plus") is Google's new social media service that seems to be the first worthy challenger of Facebook since its meteoric rise to power.

Google Plus LogoGoogle unveiled Google+ with the same buzz-inspiring exclusivity strategy it used to roll out GMail. Google told everyone about Google+ but only let a select few people join, each of whom had a few "Google+ invites" to give out, thus slowly growing the service through a limited number a web of invitations. Not surprisingly, the strategy worked. And now, the floodgates are open to general public.

Only Google would be so bold as to think that they can get people to use their social network instead of, or at least in addition to, Facebook.

So how will they do this? Google+ claims to have certain advantages over Facebook, and it looks as though they may be right.

One of the biggest problems users have with Facebook is privacy. College students do not want their family or potential employers to see pictures of their partying antics. Employees working in an office environment may not want colleagues, especially superiors, to see posts relating to their personal lives. Facebook offered a solution to this by allowing users to sort their friends into groups and assign specific privacy settings to each group, even individual friends. However, very few Facebook users are willing to invest the time to sort their hundreds of friends into these groups and consider the specific privacy settings for each group or individual friend.

google plus circlesEnter Google+ Circles. Google+ requires you to sort every new friend you add to a Circle. You can customize your Circles however you would like. People from your Friends Circle cannot see posts that you post to your Work Circle. You can create any Circle you would like, Book Club, Immediate Family, Friends from Saturday Night, Ski Buddies, anything! And because Google+ is newly launched, every connection between friends on the entire network will have to be sorted by users. Privacy problem? Virtually solved. It's annoying to spend hours sorting in Facebook, but it's easy to click one drop down menu each time you add a friend.

Google+'s other main boasted features include Huddles, Hangouts, Sparks, and Instant Upload.

Huddles allow users to easily create custom group chats which is intended to make coordinating among a group of friends easier. Ever find it hard to agree on what movie to see with 5 friends? Where to go to lunch? Huddles makes it easy and fun.

Sparks is a service integrated into Google+ that analyzes your interests and sends you interesting material that you can watch, read, or share whenever you have free time. Think Digg or Stumbleupon.

Hangouts allow you to "hangout" with individual friends or entire Circles on the web. In a Hangout, users can watch a video "together," chat, and more.

Facebook users have expressed their love for mobile uploads, in which a user can upload a photo or video from their phone that can be geo-tagged so their friends know where it happened. It is a bit annoying to have to upload photos and videos. With Google+ Instant Upload, you can have photos and videos upload automatically to a private album, from which you may later select what circles can see certain media. This may sound a bit intrusive, but it is very easy to turn the uploading off.

SMO EvolutionWhat does Google+ mean for the SEO and SMO of my website?

Essentially, there is now one more major social network to help promote your site content.  Many analysts believe that as it grows in popularity, Google+ will offer more effective SMO than Facebook because of its methods of spreading posted and linked content among Circles and users- oh, and the small fact that it's a GOOGLE service (being analyzed and tracked by Google site crawlers). For example, if I post a link about heavy snowfall at a nearby mountain to my Ski Buddies Circle, there is a much higher chance that those users will see my post in their feed, and because it is highly applicable to them, there is a much higher chance that they will click on my link.

Have any further questions about Google+ and how you can leverage Google's new social network for your website? Don't hesitate to contact the experts here at BostonLogic- we will happily discuss any questions or comments you may have!

Latest Sequoia Feature Enhancements!

Our development team has worked through countless beach days to round out the Summer with some key feature enhancements to the Sequoia System Platform. From design improvements, to social sharing tools, to user-friendly front and back-end upgrades, Boston Logic's techies have run the gamut in Sequoia Platform enhancements for optimal system performance. Here are the highlights:

Design

We've added the ability to use custom fonts in any of our design themes. We no longer have to be tethered to the "web-standard" list - by embedding custom fonts, we can now use whatever typeface you want in designing your new site. This lets us match the font on your Sequoia website exactly to your offline collateral, and means that you are limited in style only by your imagination.

Social Sharing

In addition adding the LinkedIn share button (which will also now be tracked in Google Analytics), we combined  all social media share buttons (Facebook, Twitter, Google +1, and LinkedIn) to display in a "tooltip" as a single "Share this Site" or "Share this Page" button. This will help conserve some space (at the top or bottom of your site's home page), giving your social sharing tools a more organized appeal.

We also added a field in Social Media Settings which allows you to set your own default Twitter hashtag; when your leads tweet content from your site, the hashtag you set is automatically added to the message!

QR Codes

We've added QR codes to the printable listing sheets and showing sheets you can create on the back end of your website. These link directly to the property's details page on your website - so you can hand out printed materials that help drive prospective customers to your site.

Town Pages Update

We've updated Town Pages to allow you to show off listings on which you were the buyer's agent; now you can highlight your sales on both ends of the process with a single checkbox.

LogicCMS - 301 Redirects

We built the ability to implement your own 301 redirects into our LogicCMS. 301 redirects tell search engines that content they are used to finding in one location has permanently moved to another. If you are creating new pages with new URLs when you move onto the Sequoia platform, all you have to do is put the old URL in the 301 redirect field on the new page and our software will automatically ensure that your search engine rankings for content on the page in question won't be affected negatively by changing the page path.

Spambot Blocker

We've added the ability to require reCaptcha on your site's Sign Up page - this tool keeps spambots out while still letting quality leads in. You can turn it on or off in your Settings panel.

New Sequoia Upgrade! Listing Syndication

Once again the Superstar team of developers here at Boston Logic have been cranking away to provide our Sequoia software users with the cutting edge features needed to run a competitive business online. That's why we are so excited to announce the release of our integrated Listing Syndication!

One of the most effective ways you can get your property listings in front of more potential buyers - and search engines - is through listing syndication. By sending your listings out en masse to various real estate search sites like Trulia, Oodle, Zillow, Vast, and Hotpads (to name a few), we are able to get your properties seen by a much larger audience, as well as acquiring large numbers of quality inbound links to your listings on your own website. Your exclusive listings are syndicated automatically just by having a Sequoia website - you list your properties only in your MLS and we take care of the rest!

New Agent Site Designs Added to Theme Gallery!

Go ahead, judge a website by it's cover...

Boston Logic's creative team has added a slew (31, to be exact) of new Individual Agent Themes for Realtors to choose from as they begin the website building process. Choosing a website framework and design that aligns with your personal preferences and specific business needs is an important part of developing your "web presence" and creating a strong personal brand online.

Our designers worked off three basic, user-friendly layouts each with different color schemes.

Agent 3- Black

Agent 3- Black

They also added some additional layouts which match the branding for some of our biggest clients (i.e. Gibson Sotheby's, RE/MAX, Jack Conway and more). And the best part about these newly crafted templates is the auto-populated homepage that will pull information from the profile you create on the back-end of the site (i.e. your picture, contact info, and bio). So after choosing a template that fits, you'll have a quicker path to launching your site.

New! QR Codes Added to Showing Sheets

New Sequoia Feature Released

We've recently added QR codes to our printable listing and showing sheets. Scanning these codes with a smartphone equipped with a QR reader, (free apps are available for all popular devices), takes you directly to the listing details page of the property on your website. We generate these codes as image files, which means that you can also save a copy to your computer for use in all of your printed collateral, from yard signs to listing flyers!

Improve the Visibility of Your Listings

This great tool improves visibility for your listings and gives you even more ways to bring qualified leads to your Sequoia website. Just navigate to the printable listing sheet for any property on the back end of your site, or create a showing sheet for multiple properties, and QR codes are automatically shown for all listings on the sheet.

Featured Sequoia Additions: CMS Preview & Sold Listings

Attention Sequoia System Users: you asked, so we delivered! Check out two of the latest and greatest features added to our integrated Sequoia platform...

CMS Preview Button

We've added a "Preview" function to our LogicCMS - something we've had a lot of requests for and are excited to share! Now when you are creating or editing a page on your Sequoia website, you can get a sneak peek at how the content will appear live, without having to save the page and view it on the front end. At any time during the process of creating or editing a page, just scroll to the bottom of the editor and click the blue Preview button - a preview of the new version of the page opens in a new tab or window.

The Preview function lets you see your changes without saving your work; no more need to worry about how your formatted content will look to your customers. The Preview tool can also save you lots of time, since you no longer need to save a page and view it from the front end in order to see how your finished work will look.

Sold Listings on Agent Profiles

For agents who want to show off the great properties they've recently sold, we just added the ability to show your sold listings along with your active ones right on your profile page. Just check the "Display Sold Properties On Bio" box in your Profile and your sold listings from the past 90 days will be shown right below your active listings. This is a great way to show prospective seller clients your portfolio and your close rate, or just to let people browse the quality listings you've recently represented.
